What is Mysore-style Ashtanga yoga?
Mysore-style is a traditional way of learning Ashtanga where each student practices at their own pace with individualized instruction. Rather than following a led class, you move through the sequence supported by one-on-one teaching.
I'm new to Mysore-style. Can I still join?
Do I need to memorize the sequence?
Where do we practice?
Absolutely! Beginners are warmly welcomed. We will guide you slowly, posture by posture, until your practice naturally grows strong and confident.
Not right away. Memorization happens naturally over time. Your teacher will guide you step-by-step until the practice flows from within.
Practice is offered in a small, semi-private home studio in Little Hollywood, San Francisco — indoors or in the surrounding garden, depending on season and weather.
What makes your teaching style unique?
Are the classes really 2 hours long?
How do I book a practice or ask a question?
My method follows the teachings of David Garrigues and the traditional Ashtanga method — emphasizing breath, discipline, energetic awareness, and devotion in Ashtanga practice. Use of props and chairs are easily integrated so students practice with integrity and wise action.
Due to the nature of this method, student can start and end their practices at anytime during the posted practice times. Come for 20 minutes or 2 hours! We just ask that you end y our practice by the closing time.
You can [Book Your Practice] online or [Email Us] directly. First-time students are welcomed with a brief consultation before their first session.
